My Experience With Google Adsense

I have been using adsense since November 2007. I consider the small amount of money I have made since that time a modest success.  I have made enough to cover some of the operating expenses accrued by my online business, such as domain names and hosting.  Both of which will likely be topics of conversation for future posts. I am a big fan of quality domain names and have a couple of hosting companies I prefer but I digress.

I feel as though I could have and should have made more money over this period of time.  I have been terrible at updating or refreshing my content over this time period which undoubtedly is a contributing factor to my less than stellar earnings summary.

With that being said, I find it hard to believe that anyone can actually pull down thousands of dollars per month with Google adsense, unless … wait for it … they have a great number of outstanding domain names that are perfectly optimized with fresh high quality content, high organic search engine ranking, a great number of quality backlinks so on and so forth.  Those top five percent earners have either completely automated the entire website process or hire outside writers.  I mean seriously.  I don’t know about you, but I work a full time job, have a girl-friend and have some semblance of a life outside of the internet.  I can barely find time to blog and when I do it’s just everything to get the words on the page.  I have recently updated the content on Custom Coins dot ws as well as changed the colors of the ads I’m displaying hoping to get more clicks on said ads.  Boo hoo, right!?  LOL!!!

My point is that adsense is a good thing provided you continually update the website that displays your ads.  I would recommend finding highly searched keyword phrases for your domain of choice.  Fill that domain with quality content and get your adsense on.  There are a whole lot of quality domain names available with new top level domains still being released.  I’m sure you can find a name you’re passionate about.  Hosting a website is much cheaper than it used to be.  The effort you put into something doesn’t feel like work when you’re passionate about what you’re doing.
